Bassnectar is back with a 17-track album, The Golden Rule, packed with diverse array of his signature omnitempo, freestyle sound and fresh addition for bass music playlists. The album is the first of a 3-park collection released during the Summer of 2023 and features collaborations with REBELWISE, Rye Rye, Jamalski, Ooah Yes!, Fashawn, Azeem, Bobby Saint, AshEL SeasunZ, Ava Raiin, and Dorfex Bos.
Kicking off the album is the title track “The Golden Rule,” in a classic, Mesmerizing the Ultra-style that combines ethereal, dreamlike leads with a heavy rhythm section for the perfect blend of noise and beauty. From a symphony of exotic home-made horns, building into heater of sirens & 808s, “Unlocked” is an anthem of energy and identity – featuring Baltimore’s club icon Rye Rye & the legendary junglist MC Jamalski! “Fly high but we stay underground – unlocked but we keep it locked down.”
In “Time for Some Action,” spooky clarinets pave the way for a pounding old school breakbeat and vocal cuts which lead up to pure sonic mayhem with searing laser leads, crushing drums, and massive sub bass make it clear that the anthem is here. “Prayer Song” – a collaboration with Rebelwise, and the 1st of many projects with Ancient Tongue which centers on the preservation of indigenous language through hip hop culture. We teamed up with Merle Whistler, a Lakota ceremonial Leader, his granddaughters Una & Wicahapi, and their uncle Jake Sounding Sides to celebrate the Lakota language and culture.
