The vision I have for my art and the way I produce all come with the idea of what it would feel like to touch the stars. I produce ethereal bass primarily and when I DJ I blend elements of hip hop, experimental bass, dnb, and old school dub. When I mix I always have a goal in mind to take listeners on a journey through sound by creating a story through song selection. The different emotions that music can create and the community it brings together are my reasons for producing, its the love for sound that drives me forward. I grew up playing guitar, Pete Townshend got me playing, Jimmy Page and David Gilmour influenced style. Of course, Bassnectar influenced the electronic side of my interest… because it’s actually melodic. Freakstyle 2019 gave me no choice but to begin my work.

I'm new to DJing, but I’ve always loved music’s power to tell a story and connect with people on a deep level. I’m drawn to the heavy bass and intricate drops of dubstep, and I enjoy blending different sounds to create a unique vibe that feels both energetic and emotional. DIAD stands for Dream Inside A Dream. Certain aspects in life may be dramatized, out of place, or just flat out bizarre. All of these aspects are combined together through music to see how deep the rabbit hole really goes! DIAD is the brain child of my many dreams and experiences that I now hope to share with all the world through the medium of sound.

Inspiration is life and life is all around us. My musical journey started when I was young and has transformed throughout time. I like to push the sonic boundaries of what is considered sound vs noise. Sounds in general are where a lot of inspiration comes from, it's an awareness of everyday life. The expression of this awareness is in my art.

To be completely honest I just started this journey a year ago! I started following Bassnectar in high school and knew this was exactly what I wanted to do! Im nowhere near where I would like to be. I’m Sofa King Sad Boi, a producer who doesn’t conform to genres. My heart belongs to bass music in all its forms, but I’ve made everything from metalcore to hip-hop and lofi. Charlotte, NC, is where it all started for me, back when I went by Rave Charles. I used to host Bass Head Meetups to raise money for local charities, and I’m proud to be TOS member number three (number one if you don’t count the devs).
